Champion P**** in Taiwan
Date of Attendance: 10th August 2009
System: Hamworthy IGG System
Our engineer was called to attend vessel at Taichung.
The agent at Taichung brought our Engineers to Vessel at Taichung.
The vessel was installed with a Hamworthy Moss Inert Gas Generator.
Instruments Air Pipeline was installed with the SMC oil/mist auto drain air filter, and found that a lot water drain out automatically.
They have flush all I/P converter with dry air and stimulate all I/P converters with current (mA) injector and found that all I/P converters found working condition.
The ATM valve’s keystone positioner was stimulate with current (mA) injector and found unstable, and was dismantle and found that the positioner diaphragm was damage and was replace with new diaphragm and install back found working condition.
Run the system and fan load module adjusted.
Run the system and found unable to fire the main burner.
They decide to dismantle the complete burner top for inspection.
The next morning our engineer continue to carry ou the following task:
Burner top assembly complete down and cleaned.
Ignition burner found oil nozzle wrong capacity and replaced.
Ignition burner internal cleaned with chemical.
Air damper movement checked.
Start sea water and found no leakage in the cooling jacket.
Burner top re-installed.
Run system and fire main burner on auto mode, but fuel oil pressure unable to control from the main panel control system, this is due to the Ship’s Engineer installed a non-return valve on the fuel oil return line to keep the pressure. We believe something was wrong on the fuel oil control pipe work and control valve. This is why Ship’s Engineer installed a non-return valve to keep the pressure to fire the system. Ship’s Master have inform us that vessel will sail within 2 -3 hour time, so we do not have sufficient time to check the fuel oil control pipe work.
The repaired motor just arrive just before we on board yesterday, according to Chief Engineer he is removing the main engine piston and have not enough time to install the motor.
As discussed with Ship’s Master and inform the Superintendent that we will leave vessel from here and back to Singapore and to join the vessel on the next port to continue on the work.
